Algonquin College

Algonquin College recently opened 4 new buildings to support their growing student population. Holmes & Brakel worked with clients to ensure the new facilities met the necessary standards for Educational Institutions as well as used Canadian supplied furnishings.  The buildings include classrooms, labs, student commons, library, bookstore, boardrooms, offices and warehousing.

BC Institute of Technology

For over a decade Holmes & Brakel has partnered with BCIT on their Burnaby Campus. We develop furniture space plans to help BCIT with budgeting, maintain as-built drawings to match BCIT’s need for reconfigurations and provide furniture solutions that are in sync with BCIT’s visions and goals.

BCIT is proud of its strong Sustainability Initiative. In the recently completed Gateway Project, Holmes & Brakel proposed Teknion Re-furbished TOS product as a Sustainable Solution. The product is now a standard across the Campus.

UBC Pharmaceutical Sciences and Centre for Drug Research and Development

This eye-catching building figures prominently on one of the UBC’s main arteries. Its glass façade makes it standout against the backdrop of more traditional buildings in the vicinity. The interior is a subtle mix of greys and natural cedar. Furniture was specified to blend into the built environment. Amongst other items, H&B sourced special laminates and linseed tack boards to meet the exacting standards. The result gives the building a coordinated feel throughout.

With over 200 private offices, 16 workstations, 9 study carrels and numerous collaborative areas this project showcases a broad cross-section of H&B products.

University of South Florida

In 2012 the University of South Florida invested a significant amount into their Library’s SMART Lab and expanded Learning Commons. The space consists of 46,000 square feet of renovated space students and faculty use for Science, Math, and Research Technology-related learning activities, Learning Commons, services and studying overall. Holmes & Brakel worked closely with the client to provide state-of-the-art furnishings that would complement the new facility. The project included classrooms, computer labs, student commons, library, and lecture hall.
