BC Hydro

In 2005/2006 BC hydro was looking to change their furniture procurement strategy. Their main priorities were flexibility, inventory costs and sustainability. Their RFP and subsequent mock-up were amongst the most thorough in the Western Region to date. Holmes & Brakel and Teknion were successful in the Modular Walls portion of the bid. This represents over 50 floors of Modular Walls.

BCH has an aggressive re-fit schedule. In order to meet this schedule a Standards Program and a Project Service Level Agreement was entered into between all parties involved. We continue to work with the project team to meet new requirements and to refine our project delivery. This has resulted in 36 floors being delivered on time and on budget.

Blount Island Command

Holmes & Brakel is building a strong, on-going relationship with BIC to meet their furniture needs. In a recent project furniture is being placed in both existing buildings and new LEED Silver buildings. The project consists of over 40 furniture projects throughout the base consisting of 80+ private offices, 100+ workstations, 200 task/conference chairs, 100 laterals/cabinets, 40 training & conferencing solutions and 180+ keyboard trays. H&B continues to provide design and project management services.

Durham Consolidated Courthouse

In 2010 a new consolidated courthouse was built in the Durham Region under an “at-risk” construction contract, which meant the schedule was paramount for this high profile complex project. The project had over 50 judicial office suites and 120 managerial offices that included wood veneer case goods, soft seating, and other furniture products to meet the individual needs of each Judge and staff member.

H&B was responsible for specification, project management and installation of the entire furniture scope. Accuracy in interpreting the needs of each individual, coordinating with the design consultant’s requirements, and ensuring the accuracy of the product solution at time of order was imperative to the success of this project.

Ministry of Labour, Citizens’ Services and Open Government

In early 2012 the British Columbia Provincial Government was looking to open up its furniture Procurement Process and standardize on independently approved furniture lines. As a full service Contract Furniture Dealer H&B offered a variety of CSA approved Manufacturers to meet their needs.

The Ministry needed an extremely fast turnaround on furniture specification in order to occupy their new space. The project was undertaken in a secure site with pre-screening required prior to access. In addition the project schedule was cut in half upon award. Holmes & Brakel were able to commit to the schedule and in fact finished the work with time to spare.

Ontario Power Generation

For the past 20 years Holmes & Brakel has built a strong partnership with OPG supplying them with furniture to meet their various needs. We have been utilizing the Teknion TOS furniture systems standard for the past 15 years. H&B is responsible for specification and installation coordination of all furniture products. We provide ongoing service in reconfiguration design to meet the needs of different departments by accommodating various size projects, utilizing the existing furniture, along with ongoing new furniture requests.
